The Ljubljana World Challenge Cup took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia from Friday, April 8th through Sunday, April, 10th 2016. The qualifications for the Ljubljana World Challenge Cup took place on Friday whilst Saturday saw Women’s VT and UB finals and Sunday saw Women’s BB and FX finals.

The top 8 on each event advanced to the 4 event finals.

On VT, Paula Mejias of Puerto Rico took the gold medal with an average score of 14.350. Competing in front of a home crowd, and to rapterous applause, Teja Belak took the silver medal and Slovenian teammate, Tjasa Kysselef took the bronze medal.

On UB, the standards were quite low in comparison to last weekends Doha World Challenge Cup where the winning routine was a 14.950 and a 15.000 in qualification. This week, the 13.150 from Ivana Kamnikar earned the gold medal, also receiving rapturous applause from her home crowd. Farah Ann Abdul Hadi of Malaysia took the silver meda, using this competition as a practice run before she goes to Rio next week for the Olympic Test Event. Teja Belak added to her medal haul with a bronze medal on this event.

  
On BB, Yueh Tan Ing took top honours with 2008 Olympian, Adela Sajn taking the silver medal with a solid routine and a 13.300. Sydney Solonski of Canada was just .100 behind her, taking the bronze medal with a 13,200m the same score she received in qualifications, she had a solid routine, displaying power and elegance.

On FX, Malaysia added to their medal haul with a gold, earned by Ang Tracie, performed with a huge smile and tonnes of energy. Sydney Soloski added to her medal haul with a silver on the FX, with a beautiful routine with lovely and well executed dance elements twinned with amazing tumbling, opening with a huge double layout. The bronze medal went to veteran Hungarian gymnast Dorina Boeczoego who displayed a lovely routine to take the third spot.
